Indian Wedding in India from Singapore and Malaysia: Costs, Visas, Dates

Singaporean and Malaysian Indian families increasingly hold the wedding in India: a palace in Rajasthan, a beach in Goa, or the family's home state, with relatives flying in from both countries and from India. This guide covers what the planning involves from Singapore or Kuala Lumpur: budgets in your currency, visas for guests on different passports, the dates that are filling first, and how IWP runs the planning remotely.

What does an Indian wedding in India cost from Singapore or Malaysia?

IWP plans to four all-inclusive bands (venue, rooms, food, décor, entertainment and guest logistics). Converted at the 5 October 2026 rate (S$1 = ₹75.22; RM1 = ₹23.58), rounded:

BandGuests₹US$S$RM

The rupee figures are the fixed planning bands; the S$ and RM figures move with the exchange rate.

Which dates should Singapore families look at first?

For a Hindu ceremony, the muhurat decides the calendar. In 2027 there are no Hindu wedding dates from August to October: the last date before the break is 12 July and the next is 10 November. That pushes most families into November 2027 to March 2028, which is also Rajasthan's cool season, so palace hotels for those weekends are being held now. Full lists: Hindu wedding dates 2027 and, for Tamil families, Tamil muhurtham dates 2027.

Visas for guests: who needs what

  • Indian passport holders (including Singapore PRs and Malaysian residents on Indian passports): no visa needed.
  • OCI cardholders: no visa needed; carry the OCI card and the passport linked to it.
  • Singapore and Malaysian citizens: both countries are on India's e-Visa list. The e-Tourist Visa is issued for 30 days, 1 year or 5 years; apply online at indianvisaonline.gov.in at least 4 days and no more than 120 days before arrival, with a passport valid for 6 months. Biometrics are taken on arrival.
  • Entry airports: e-Visa holders must land at a designated airport. Delhi, Mumbai, Jaipur and both Goa airports are on the list; Udaipur is not, so Udaipur guests on an e-Visa enter through Delhi, Mumbai or Jaipur and connect.

Where Singapore and Malaysian families marry in India

Jaipur and Udaipur for palace weddings, Jodhpur and Jaisalmer for forts and the desert, and Goa for a beach wedding with a shorter domestic connection. Families with roots in Tamil Nadu or Kerala often combine a temple ceremony at home with a reception elsewhere; we plan both.

How IWP plans it remotely

Singapore is 2.5 hours ahead of India, so planning calls fit a working day in both places. You get one senior planner, video walk-throughs of shortlisted venues, a shared budget sheet, and a guest desk that handles rooms, flights, visas and airport transfers for guests from Singapore, Malaysia, India and anywhere else.

Singapore and Malaysia: questions we are asked most

Do Singapore citizens need a visa for an Indian wedding?

Yes, unless they hold an OCI card. Singapore citizens can apply online for India's e-Tourist Visa (30 days, 1 year or 5 years) at least 4 days before travel.

How much is an Indian destination wedding in India in Singapore dollars?

About S$133,000 upwards for 50 to 100 guests, and S$399,000 to 665,000 for 150 to 250 guests, at the 5 October 2026 rate. IWP's fixed bands are ₹1 crore and ₹3–5 crore.

Can guests on an e-Visa fly straight into Udaipur?

No. Udaipur is not a designated e-Visa entry airport. Guests enter through Delhi, Mumbai or Jaipur and take a domestic flight.

Which months suit a wedding in India for families from Singapore?

November to March. In 2027 there are no Hindu wedding dates from August to October, so the first winter dates are 10 November 2027 onwards.
