For 300 guests or more, look at Colombo (ITC Ratnadipa, Taj Samudra) or Shangri-La Hambantota. For a beach wedding of 150–300 guests, Taj Bentota and Radisson Blu Galle work well, and Anantara Tangalle suits an intimate wedding.
Since 25 May 2026, Sri Lanka issues a free 30-day tourist ETA, valid for two entries, to citizens of 40 countries, including India, the USA, the UK and Canada. Every guest must apply online at eta.gov.lk before travelling; stays can be extended up to six months for a fee (Sri Lanka Department of Immigration and Emigration, checked 4 October 2026). Non-stop flights to Colombo take about 1 hour 10 minutes from Kochi, 1 hour 30 from Chennai, 1 hour 35 from Bengaluru, 2 hours from Hyderabad, 2 hours 35 from Mumbai and 3 hours 35 from Delhi, on SriLankan Airlines, IndiGo and Air India. From the UK, SriLankan flies non-stop from London Heathrow daily (about 10.5 hours). Guests from the USA and Canada connect once, through Dubai, Doha, Abu Dhabi, Istanbul, Singapore or London. From Colombo airport the hotels quote about 1.5 hours to Bentota, 2 hours 15 to Galle, 3 hours to Tangalle and about 3.5 hours to Hambantota.
On the west and south coasts (Colombo, Bentota, Galle, Tangalle, Hambantota), December to February is the driest, calmest window for a beach wedding. March and April are warm with afternoon showers; May to September brings the southwest monsoon to these coasts, and October and November have inter-monsoon rain (Sri Lanka Tourism). Alcohol is not sold on full-moon Poya days and Sri Lanka's other official dry days, so if your celebration includes a bar, we check the year's dry-day list before fixing the dates.
