Applying for Vietnam's e-Visa

Indian passport holders are not on Vietnam's short exemption list, so every guest needs a visa. Since 15 August 2023 Vietnam issues e-visas to all nationalities, and the process is the same for the couple and every guest:

Two exceptions worth knowing: British passport holders can instead use a 45-day visa-free entry for tourism or business, and Phu Quoc separately allows a 30-day visa-free stay for guests flying or sailing in directly and staying only on the island. Most multi-city wedding itineraries still need the e-visa, since they touch more than one gateway.

Flights from India to Vietnam

Nonstop flights connect India to Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City; Da Nang, Nha Trang and Phu Quoc are reached by a short domestic connection.

Da Nang, Nha Trang and Phu Quoc have no current nonstop Indian service. VietJet's earlier Delhi and Mumbai–Da Nang flights are not currently running, so Da Nang is reached via a domestic connection from Hanoi or Ho Chi Minh City. Phu Quoc has only had charter service to India: Air India Express charters from Delhi from December 2025, and Sun PhuQuoc Airways charters from Mumbai and Vijayawada in March 2026. IWP checks charter availability for large groups on request; otherwise guests connect through Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City or Da Nang.

Getting Between Vietnam's Wedding Cities

Vietnam is 1 hour 30 minutes ahead of India all year, with no daylight saving on either side. For a multi-city wedding, the domestic legs are:

Vietnam Wedding Cost: The Four Bands, and What Moves the Price

These are IWP’s indicative, all-inclusive bands (venue and rooms, food and beverage, décor and production, entertainment, guest logistics and planning), which we price exactly for your dates:

Within each band, the price moves with: the exact guest count and number of nights; whether the venue is shared with other guests or bought out in full; the décor and production scale (a stage build and imported florals cost more than a garden mandap using the resort's own landscaping); how many Indian vendors are flown in beyond the core chef and pandit team; and how far ahead the wedding is booked, since the best venues on muhurat-heavy dates are held earliest.

Month-by-Month Weather Against the 2027 Muhurat Calendar

The 2027 Hindu wedding calendar has 95 dates in all: 9 in January (15–31 January), 13 in February, 7 in March (1–14 March), 9 in April (18–28 April), 19 in May, 16 in June, 5 in July (7–12 July), none in August, September or October, 11 in November (from 10 November) and 6 in December (7–14 December). Read together, Nha Trang's January–August dry season overlaps with 78 of the 95 dates, the widest match of the four cities. Da Nang and Hoi An's February–May window overlaps with 48 dates. Phu Quoc and Hanoi each overlap with 55 dates, split between the January–April cluster and the 10 November–14 December cluster. A family anchored to a specific muhurat should treat this table as the starting point for choosing a city, then confirm the exact date against IWP's 2027 Hindu wedding dates list.

Food, Rituals and Hotel Logistics

IWP brings Indian chefs to work with the hotel kitchen, flies in a pandit and builds the mandap; fire, fireworks, music hours and the baraat are agreed with the hotel in advance. Every property in this guide runs its own kitchen team, so the Indian chef's role is to plan the menu with them, not replace them, which is why a tasting sits on the timeline below well ahead of the wedding week. Legal Registration: Ceremony in Vietnam, Marriage in India

Vietnam does not register a marriage between two foreigners unless one holds a Vietnamese residence permit, so an Indian couple's ceremony in Vietnam has no local legal standing, whichever city it is held in. The legal marriage is registered in India instead:

The Ministry of External Affairs' guidance to overseas Indian families is to register the marriage alongside the social wedding, in whichever order suits the couple, and to carry the registration certificate at all times once it is issued.

A 12-Month Planning Timeline

How do I apply for Vietnam's e-visa?

Apply on the official portal, evisa.gov.vn or thithucdientu.gov.vn, with a digital passport photo and passport bio-page scan. Choose single entry (US$25) or multiple entry (US$50), each valid for up to 90 days, pay online, then download and print the e-visa once it is approved.

What does an Indian wedding in Vietnam cost, and what changes the price?

IWP's bands run from about US$105,000 for an Intimate wedding of 50–100 guests over 2 days to US$1.05 million and above for an Ultra-luxe wedding of 500 or more guests or a full-property buyout. Within a band, the price moves with the exact guest count and nights, whether the venue is bought out, the décor and production scale, how many vendors are flown in, and how far ahead the wedding is booked.

Should we register our marriage in India before or after the Vietnam wedding?

Either order works. Vietnam does not register a marriage between two foreigners with no Vietnamese residence permit, so the legal marriage is registered in India under the Hindu Marriage Act or the Special Marriage Act, and the Ministry of External Affairs advises doing this alongside the social wedding, in whichever order the couple prefers.

How do guests get between Da Nang, Nha Trang, Phu Quoc and Hanoi?

By domestic flight: Hanoi or Ho Chi Minh City to Da Nang takes about 1h20m, to Cam Ranh for Nha Trang about 1h46m or 59 minutes, and to Phu Quoc about 2h06m, 1h02m or 1h45m depending on the starting city. Hoi An is a further 50-minute road transfer from Da Nang airport, and Nha Trang's island resorts add a road-and-speedboat transfer from Cam Ranh airport.

Which flights connect India to Vietnam?

Air India, IndiGo, Vietnam Airlines and VietJet fly nonstop from Delhi and Mumbai to Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam Airlines and VietJet fly nonstop from Bengaluru, and IndiGo flies nonstop from Kolkata to Hanoi. Da Nang, Nha Trang and Phu Quoc have no current nonstop Indian flights, so guests connect through Hanoi or Ho Chi Minh City.

How far ahead should we start planning?

IWP works on a 12-month timeline: shortlisting the city and venue against a muhurat date at 12 months out, contracting the venue at 9–10 months, and finalising décor, vendors and the guest e-visa guidance by 6–8 months, with the chef's menu tasting at 4–5 months.

What happens if our wedding dates fall in the rainy season?

Da Nang and Hoi An's heavy rain runs September to December, Nha Trang's October to December, and Phu Quoc is wettest from May to October; Hanoi is hot and wet May to September. IWP plans a wet-weather backup for any outdoor ceremony or reception booked in these windows, agreed with the hotel in advance alongside the fire, fireworks and baraat arrangements.
