Indian Destination Wedding Cost: 2026–2027 Budget Guide

Honest, indicative budgets by guest count, what drives the cost, where the money goes and how to get more from your budget.

"What will it cost?" is the first question almost every family asks us, and the hardest to answer from articles online. Here is an honest guide to the budget for an Indian destination wedding in 2026 and 2027, based on how IWP plans weddings in India and abroad.

Indicative all-inclusive budgets

These cover venue and rooms, food and drink, décor, entertainment, guest logistics and planning. Your exact figure depends on the destination, venue, season and guest count.

Wedding styleGuestsCelebrationIndicative budget
Intimate50 to 1002 daysfrom about US$105,000 (₹1 crore)
Premium150 to 2503 daysUS$315,000 to 525,000 (₹3 to 5 crore)
Royal300 to 5004 daysUS$725,000 to 1.05 million (₹7 to 10 crore)
Ultra-luxe500+ or whole-property buyouts3 to 4 daysUS$1.05 million+ (₹10 crore+)

What drives the budget

  • Guest count and nights: the biggest factor. Every extra night multiplies rooms, meals and transfers.
  • Venue and season: peak muhurat dates and November to February in India and the Gulf cost more.
  • Buyouts: booking a whole resort gives privacy but raises the minimum spend.
  • Décor and production: mandap, florals, lighting and stage design vary widely.
  • Entertainment: artists, bands and celebrity performers.
  • Flying things in: Indian chefs, a pandit, décor teams and outfits for weddings abroad.

Where the money usually goes

As a rough guide, most multi-day destination weddings divide their budget like this:

AreaRough share of budget
Venue and guest rooms35 to 45%
Food and drink20 to 25%
Décor, mandap and production15 to 20%
Entertainment and artists5 to 10%
Guest travel, transfers and hospitality5 to 10%
Photography and film3 to 5%

India or abroad?

A palace wedding in Udaipur or Jaipur in peak season can cost as much as a wedding in Dubai, Qatar or Turkey. Abroad, you add flights and visas for guests, but can often save on long guest lists, because smaller, closer groups travel. See our Dubai vs Qatar vs Turkey comparison.

Ways to get more from your budget

  • Choose dates just outside the busiest muhurat weeks.
  • Hold two functions at the same venue on one day.
  • Book a whole resort for fewer nights rather than a large hotel for many.
  • Put spend where guests notice it most: food, the mandap and the sangeet stage.
  • Book 12 to 18 months ahead for the best rates and dates.
