What brides and families from India, the UK, USA and Canada expect from a wedding in Kuala Lumpur or Langkawi, and how IWP delivers it.
Malaysia combines a modern skyline, island beaches and one of the largest Indian communities outside India, so temples, Indian food and familiar traditions are never far away. Kuala Lumpur's hotels have some of the biggest ballrooms in Asia. Here is what to expect, and how IWP plans it.
| Area | Best for | Venues we work with |
|---|---|---|
| Kuala Lumpur | Grand ballrooms for very large guest lists, city glamour | JW Marriott Kuala Lumpur, InterContinental Kuala Lumpur, The Ritz-Carlton Kuala Lumpur and Four Points by Sheraton Chinatown |
| Langkawi | Island beach weddings and rainforest views | The Westin Langkawi Resort & Spa |
See every property on our Malaysia wedding venues page, including Kuala Lumpur and Langkawi.
| Flying from | Approximate journey time |
|---|---|
| Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai or Bengaluru | About 4 to 5.5 hours direct to Kuala Lumpur |
| London | About 13 hours direct |
| New York or Toronto | About 20 to 22 hours with one stop |
Langkawi is about an hour's flight from Kuala Lumpur. Kuala Lumpur International Airport is 45 to 60 minutes from the city hotels.
IWP brings Indian chefs to work alongside the resort kitchen, so the chaat, the dal and the wedding feast taste exactly as your family expects, with Jain and vegetarian menus on request. We fly in a pandit from India, design the mandap for the beach, lawn or ballroom, and arrange the baraat, music and fireworks with the hotel's approvals.
Malaysia is warm all year. December to February is usually the driest period on the west coast and in Langkawi, while Kuala Lumpur's ballroom weddings work in any month. Short tropical showers are common, so every outdoor function has a covered back-up. Check the muhurat first in our 2027 Hindu wedding dates.
