THE BEGINNING: UNCOMPLICATED & EASY

Sahaj and I didn’t start with a spark; we started with a conversation. He had just returned from Texas to join his family business, and I was deep in the world of litigation at the High Court. We were two people who found comfort in each other’s company—mostly to rant about life and escape our routines. Love wasn’t even on the radar; it was just a simple, easy friendship.

THE CATALYST: ENTER "COFFEE"

Somewhere in those casual chats, Sahaj discovered my deep love for animals. That was when Coffee entered the narrative. Sahaj spoke of his dog constantly—how Coffee slept with him, cuddled with him, and how his entire life revolved around his furry companion. Slowly, our conversations began to revolve around Coffee, too.

THE SHIFT: DECEMBER 2022

Life eventually took me to Noida for my Master’s, and distance began to creep in. But in December 2022, I made a casual call to remind him of our annual tradition: the Jaipur Literature Festival.
When I returned to Jaipur, we went to dinner. It felt like any other meeting, but something shifted. We moved past the surface and truly opened up. That night, we both realized the truth: we were no longer just friends.

THE LONG DISTANCE & THE VIDEO CALLS

Soon, Sahaj began visiting Noida more often. Video calls became a daily ritual. And, of course, Coffee was always there... or so I thought. I found myself falling—a little for Sahaj, and a lot for the dog I had heard so much about.

THE PLOT TWIST

By March, we were official. A few weeks later, I met his cousins at a dinner. That’s when the truth came out.
“Coffee isn’t Sahaj’s dog,” Sona told me casually.
As it turned out, Coffee belonged to the family, lived on a different floor with his Chachi, and wasn't even particularly fond of Sahaj. He had been "borrowing" Coffee’s personality just to impress me. I couldn't even be upset; I just laughed. By then, I had already fallen for both of them.

THE DECISION

Choosing Sahaj has been the simplest, most meaningful decision of my life. He isn't about grand, loud gestures; he is about showing up. He is the most caring, gentle soul I know—the kind of person who remembers the little things and provides comfort before you even know you need it.

THE FULL CIRCLE

When it was time for forever, our families met and agreed with the same easy certainty we felt. Then came the proposal.
He took me back to Giardino at Jai Mahal Palace—the exact spot of our first date. It wasn’t extravagant or loud. It was simple, thoughtful, and full of meaning. Just like us.

THE FOREVER

The ring I wear isn’t just jewelry. It’s a reminder of a love that found us when we weren't even looking. It’s amazing how something so ordinary and unplanned could turn into something so certain.

Taj Devi Ratn: What struck us first about Taj Devi Ratn Jaipur was the setting, nestled in the Aravalli hills, the property felt private, calm, and incredibly romantic. The stepwell-inspired courtyards, sandstone textures, and layered terraces created natural stages for every function, while the golden light on the stone walls made everything look cinematic without heavy décor.

What I loved most was how beautifully the venue flows, guests never felt crowded, yet everything remained close and seamless. If I had to describe it in one line, Taj Devi Ratn doesn’t just host a wedding, it creates an atmosphere. It feels intimate yet grand, modern yet rooted, luxurious yet warm. As a couple, we didn’t just have a beautiful wedding, we felt like we were part of a story unfolding in the Aravalli’s.

Wedding planning tips or advice for couples getting married

To all the upcoming brides and grooms, one thing I learned is that your wedding is not just an event, it’s a series of fleeting moments. Don’t get so caught up in perfecting everything that you forget to live it. Take small breaks for yourself. Step away for five minutes, breathe, look around, and let it sink in, these are the days you’ll never get back.

Delegate tasks. Trust your family, friends, and planners. You don’t have to answer every call or solve every tiny issue. The more you let go, the more you’ll actually enjoy your own wedding.

Also, don’t push yourself to lose weight in the last three months. Stress and drastic changes only make things harder. Focus on feeling healthy and comfortable, not different.

Most importantly, do proper outfit trials. Wear everything together, jewellery, shoes, dupatta, and make sure measurements are perfect. Comfort changes your entire experience.

And above all, enjoy the days. Laugh more, worry less, and be present. The decor fades, timelines blur, but how you felt will stay forever.
